Monad Shoal protectors

Alvin Malagase Micarsos and Captain Oscar Conje do very good work at Monad Shoal (the famous thresher shark site near Malapascua). Only recently have they been going out every night to ward off fishermen at this famous and important seamount. Unfortunately unsustainable fishing practices are still common at this iconic dive site. They told me on our night out there that only two weeks ago a net was found with two dead sharks and a turtle, and that's only one of the many stories... Dynamite fishing still happens on a regular basis as well. While Monad Shoal is a marine reserve, it's not properly protected and it's the dive shops of Malapascua who are funding people like Oscar and Alvin to go out at night.
